Ceramic surface coatings in sculptural architectures

In this study, the connections between sculptural architecture and ceramics are examined. Starting from the prehistoric period, the interaction and development of sculpture, architecture and ceramics were investigated. The historical development and change of sculptural architectural structures that are more common in Western art started in England with the industrial revolution. With the effects of individual and social developments on art and artists, it has spread all over the European continent. The political, economic, social and cultural developments brought about by the industrial revolution were reflected in the field of science and art. In this process that lasted until the 21st century, various forms were searched for in architectural forms and it was seen that ceramic material was used as coatings. Sharp boundaries have been lifted between the fields of art and three different disciplines of art, sculpture, architecture and ceramics have been combined in a single field and used in architectural art. In the first part of the thesis, the development of architectural art, types and design principles are examined. In the second chapter, the relationship between sculpture and architecture is discussed and how it is interpreted by artists. The third chapter is given to the use of ceramic art in the West in architectural design and reflection in Turkey. In the fourth chapter, ceramic surface coatings in sculptural architectures are examined. In the conclusion part, general evaluations and suggestions related to the research topic are completed.
