Abstract (EN)

Hezarfen Hüseyin Effendy was one of the most important scientists of 17th century Ottoman History. He gave valuable Works of art in different branches such as history, geography, medicine, filology, theology etc? The most important one amoung them is ?Tenkihu?t-Tevarih?. The book is spacial and different in terms of the subjects it deals with. Besides, the important of the books increases becouses the writers used foreign sources (Greek, Latin etc?) and followed a different method than the understanding of chronological history. This book?s writer, who is understood that he follows ?bn Haldun?s ideas, is in the quality of general history and it is one of the first examples of Ottoman historiography. Historian gives short and necessary information about the subjects it deals with. Also the meaning of the tittle of the book is ?The summary of the history of Meliks? Even though there was some studies about this book in the west, there is no study about it in our country. This thesis consist of the transcription and evaulation of the parts between Hezarfen Hüseyin Effendy and his works and from the Seljuks of the ?Tenkihu?t- Tevarih? till the foundation of Ottoman State. There are these subjects in the criticized text: Seljuks of Anatolian, Danishmends, Chengis Khan and his Son?s State (Mongols), The Atabegids of Musul, Halep and Sham, The State of Timurids, The Khanids of Kırım, Tolunids, ?hshidies, Fatimids, Eyyubids, Mamluks and Begids of Anatolian. This work has been prepared by the comparison of basically exacpted Manisa copy, Diyarbakır and Hamidiye copies. A dictionary and the some publishing of the parts which were in the Manisa copy of criticized text has been added to the end of this thesis. ?n this thesis the approach to the middle ages Turkish Islamic history of an Ottoman historian who lived in the 17th century has been examined.
