Abstract (EN)
The world's oil reserves are depleted day by day and causes such as air pollution have led to the development of hybrid drive systems as an alternative to conventional drive systems. One of the most important way to reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in hybrid electric vehicles is through the control system, which controls load – leveling between drivetrain components and energy management strategies. Therefore, energy management strategies in hybrid electric vehicles play an important role in the efficiency of vehicle. With the correct determination of energy management strategies, it is possible to make significant improvements in fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. In this thesis, two fuzzy logic rules based energy management strategies were designed then energy management simulations of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle were performed. The results of the simulations were compared with the results of the fuzzy logic based energy management strategy proposed by ADVISOR which is used as the simulation platform. The first strategy is called Strategy-A. The Strategy-A is designed to reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, as well as protect the battery charge rate. When the simulation results are compared, the fuel consumption in the reference city driving cycle has been achieved in terms of both fuel consumption and battery charge, and the fuel consumption in the highway driving cycle has been reduced but the battery charge rate has been reduced. This has revealed the need to optimize the rule base for the strategies according to the driving cycle. The second strategy is called Strategy-B. Strategy-B is designed to reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in all driving cycles. Looking at the simulation results when the targets have been met. The simulation results show us how important the correct determination of energy management strategies is in terms of energy efficiency and the overall efficiency of the hybrid electric vehicle.
