Abstract (EN)

Biomaterials used as implants must be both compatible with living organisms and meet certain mechanical properties and functionality system. While the mechanical performance of biomaterials is generally associated with bulk properties, processes such as compatibility with living systems, wear and rupture are directly related to surface properties. When implants placed in the human body are damaged in a short time, this may cause negative effects, both psychologically and economically, in the recovery of the situation. Therefore, designing the biomaterial in accordance with its intended use and placement in the environment is of great importance in order to obtain the most suitable surface properties. This is possible; it is aimed to examine wear and corrosion by coating Ti6Al4V alloy with niobium oxide by physical vapor deposition (PVD) method.
