Abstract (EN)

Cylindrical Grinding Machines are used in the food industry for the precise and stable machining of grinding rolls, such as flour and oil milling rollers. These machines are capable of performing conical, crowned, or complex form grinding operations. However, when hydrodynamic lubrication is employed in the spindle bearings, issues such as friction, heating, and wear may occur during the grinding of the rolls due to the stop-and-move interactions. To overcome these challenges, the transition from hydrodynamic to hydrostatic lubrication bearings has brought about a significant improvement, although it has also introduced certain uncertainties in the technical specifications of the rolls. Within the scope of this thesis, it is planned to obtain results regarding the variations in surface roughness using grinding machines equipped with hydrostatic lubrication bearing systems, which have been specifically developed for mill rolls. In this context, the effects of hydrostatic bearing geometry, along with the design updates in the spindle, on manufacturing will be addressed. The study will analyze and comparatively evaluate the effects of grinding operations carried out under 50–60 bar pressure on mill rolls of 250x1000 mm and 250x1250 mm, using NK-grade Aluminum Oxide and SCG-grade Silicon Oxide grinding wheels, on the surface roughness values of the rolls. Furthermore, control systems and pressure pockets will be examined, and their evaluations will be made through the hydraulic circuit diagram.
