Reading Hieronymus Bosch's works through Nietzche's criticism of morality

The subject of this study is reading Hieronymus Bosch's paintings through Nietzsche's criticism of morality. In this context, first of all, Bosch's traditional biblical paintings are discussed. Bosch's iconography in Northern European painting is discussed in the context of the allegorical tradition. In the context of the explanation of Bosch's demonic figures, the importance of gnostic eschatology was emphasized. Spiritual alchemy, which is parallel to the common Christian beliefs, is considered as a separate iconographic interpretation theme. In the context of Nietzsche's moral critique, the similarities between Platonism and Christianity are emphasized. Nietzsche's moral critique has been examined through basic concepts. The basic concepts of Nietzsche's moral critique are used for the interpretation of Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights, The Haywain, and The Temptation of St. Antony. From this point of view, Bosch's iconography, which is based on Christian ethics, has been tried to be reversed through Nietzsche's moral criticism.
