High tech offices and their effective role in the development of ecological offices

Technology always responds to the needs and it takes process beyond the architecture from industry revolution till the high tech movement. With the constitution of hi-tech movement, architecture takes the deserved position in terms of technology. The developments through buildings and constructions bring new possibilities to the industry about construction systems, technics and new materials. The purpose of high tech movement is, to refuse the heavy reinforced concrete systems by using productive industry technology in building construction. The fair buildings such as the Eiffel Tower, Crystal Palace and craft architecture projects which represent a new alternative building style by using industrial technology, have effective role in the formation of high tech movement. Factory and house projects are the first products of the movement which was then carried through large scale projects such as research centers and office buildings. In this research, we examine the high tech office buildings which are located in the city centers and their interaction with environment. In this respect, purpose, extent and boundaries of the study are determined in part one. In part two, constitution process of high tech movement which is revelead by the interaction of science, technology and architecture, is examined. The architects, buildings, Utopias and craft projects which are important for this constitution process are also examined. As a result influences of high tech movement to archictecture and industry are searched throughy. In part three, definition of high tech offices are made, common characteristics and problems of these buildings are determined. The most important large scale high tech offices such as Lloyd's of London, Hong Kong Bank and Century Tower are examined and the development process, developed systems and technics of these buildings are exposed. High tech office buildings with functional and flexible working spaces that conserve energy has taken the part of traditional office buildings as an important outcome of technological development. In part four, we examine the high tech office buildings which are located in the city centers and their interaction with environment. By choosing high tech technologies like double facades, shadow elements and the effective use of solar energy, developments in energy conservation subject are supplied. In the conclusion part, the importance of technology in the constitution of high tech movement and the influences of high tech offices in office developments and ecolocigal offices, are dwelled upon. Developed systems in high tech offices and the anxieties in urban scale because of the machine comprehension of high tech buildings, accelarated the development process of the ecological offices. In the conclusion ideas about the effectiveness of high tech systems in ecological development are determined.
