READING COMPREHENSIONSKILLSNesibe DUMANMaster?s ThesisSpecial Education Teaching ProgrammeThesis Supervisor: Asst.Prof.Dr. lknur Çifci TEK NARSLANJanuary, 2006, 145 pages:The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of story mapping methodon educable mentally retarded students? reading comprehension capacity.Three educable mentally retarded students, who are educated in anelementary school in Bolu, attended to this research. The design of this study is amultiple probe design across subjects that is a model of the multiple baseline design.To identify educable mentally disordered students? performance levelsintroduced as pre and post-treatments. Then in order to use in these treatments fifteenstories are prepared by the researcher. Story mapping method is applied during tensessions for each student. At the end of this study, it is found out that story mappingmethod on reading comprehension skills of educable mentally retarded students,who attained in this investigation, is extremely effective.Keywords: Educable mentally retarded students, story mapping, readingcomprehension.
