Abstract (EN)

The philosophy of science, which aims to give a logical analysis of scientific thinking and research methods, is in a relationship with epistemology while examining the characteristics of scientific knowledge; with logic while examining the scientific reasoning; with metaphysics while dealing with the reality of the beings studied by science, and with sociology and history while dealing with the development of science, the changes of scientific theories and the nature of science. It seems that the philosophy of science, which is in such a close relation with the most important fields of social sciences, has a great past that goes back to Ancient Greece when viewed historically. However, its disciplinary status has been realized in the 20th Century, when the philosophy began to think about science, as the result of the rapid development of science. In the following period, with the rapid development of science and the increase of the questions in science, philosophy of science became one of the most important branches of philosophy In this study we aimed to reveal historical consideration about basic subjects of philosophy of science and ideas of Ord. Prof. Dr. Hilmi Ziya Ülken who is one of the Prominent scholars of our country and intellectual of Republic Period. He also put forward studies on almost each subject of the social sciences such as philosophy, sociology, antropology. Then we tried to reveal that he hasthoughts need to be considered in this area, by comparing Ülken's thoughts with Henri Poincaré, Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn, who had a great effect on philosophy of science in western world.
