Religion and society according to Hilmi Ziya Ülken

Differences in the social structure that occurred along with scientific, economic and sociological developments have alscaffected non-European geography. The Ottoman empire has also been affected by these developments. Religious-society relations have also experienced differentiation within the development of Ottoman society, which has emerged along with modernisation studies. The process has been the beginnng of a new era, with the transition from empire to republic to nation state understanding In this context, different scientists have come up with different views and studies about what religious-community relations are within the newly emerging Republic of Turkey.Hilmi Ziya Ulken is one of the key scientists who has studied religion-society relations in Turkey as one of these scientists. The study was based on the study of Hilmi Ziya Countryn's own works, articles written about him, and dissertations prepared The purpose of the study is to identify the country's understanding of religion and community relations, which have given works in psychology, sociology and philosophy in Turkey, and to try to establish a connection with today. However, its contributions to science literature have also been discussed in the context of religion-community relations of the Country. This study is thought to contribute to research found in the literature about what Hilmi Ziya Countryn thinks about religious- community relations. At the same time, the introduction of your Country's thoughts on religious-society relations will allow other sociologists of the time to compare it with their views on it. As a result of the study Hilmi Ziya Ulken who was influenced by the circumstances of his time, was seen to have a positive view of secularism, reform in religion, and it became clear that Islam had an active role in the formation o the concept of Turkish Nation. In the context of the social influence of religion, it has been assessed that the differentiation uncovered by the Crusades evolved from the mystical understanding of Islam into an actionive structure that struggles for a struggle for survival against the struggling, jihadist, and the West. This study used document analysis based on the method of qualitative research. Hilmi Ziya Countryn's literature scan on the subject of religious community relations has shown that both postgraduate studies and article type studies have mostly written philosophical aspects, Islamic philosophy thinking, love morality, the idea of Anatoliaism and treatises on his life. In this context, it is believed that this study may help different studies to be done on this subject with the introduction of his ideas about religious-community relations.
