Abstract (EN)
Aim: It is aimed to examine the effect of education which is given to relatives of patients with hypertension on patients' compliance with drug and treatment. Material and Method: In the study, a questionnaire including socio-demographic and disease-related questions of hypertension patients/relatives, Medication Adherence/Compliance Self-Efficacy Measurement, and Hill Bone Hypertension Treatment Adherence Scale were applied. Results: The study was conducted with a total of 116 patients, 57 of which were in the "Experimental Group" and 59 in the "Control Group", and 116 patients' relatives. 81.4% of the patients in the Control Group and 78.9% of the patients in the Experimental Group believed that the primary individual had an effect on drug and treatment compliance in hypertension, and there was no statistically significant difference between them (p>0.05). There is no statistically significant difference between the control and experimental groups in terms of pretest and post-test DASS total score averages (p>0.05). Conclusion: Our study points out that education on medication and treatment provided to relatives of patients with hypertension, there is no difference between the control and experimental group patients. The increase of compliance in patients inside the control group may be related to a heightened awareness that arises from the questions asked during the pre-test. To ensure the effectiveness of training in future studies that plan indirect intervention in patients, it is recommended to review all aspects such as duration, form, model, etc. Keywords: Patient Relatives, Hypertension, Drug Compliance, Treatment Compliance
