The rule of Tc-99m MIBI sicintigrophy at the evaluation of pituitary adenomas

Özet (EN)

Aim: to investigate usefulness of brain SPECT with Tc-99m -MIBI in evaluation of pituitary adenoma. Materials and method: seventeen patients with pituitary adenoma mean age 39.7+1 5.3year (4 prolactinoma, 9 acromegaly, 1 TSH secreting adenoma and 3 Gushing syndrome), diagnosed at Dicle University Department of Medicine were included to the study. Seventeen healthy subjects with similar age and sex were included to the study as a control group (mean age 35.5+ 10.7 year). Pituitary adenomas of the patients were shown by MRI Brain SPECT images were obtained from patients with pituitary adenoma and control group by Tc-99m MIBI. Region of interest (ROI) were drawn best 4 coronal and 4 sagital images obtained from brain SPECT in patients with pituitary adenoma and control group. Mean coronal average count, mean sagital average count and mean average count of coronal and sagital images were calculated. Mann-Whitney-U test was used for comparision of subjects with adenoma and control group. Chi-square test was used for comparision of sex distrubition. Pearson corelation was used to show corelation between the parameters. Results: Age and sex distribition of subjects with pituitary adenoma and control group was not statisticaly different. Mean of the diameters of sagital and coronal ROI (region of interest) were significantly higher than control group(p<0.0001). Mean average count of sagital section sigificantly higher than control group( 15,20±6,68 and 9,42±3,45, pO.OOl, respectively). Mean average count that obtained from coronal and sagital sections was also higher than control group (13,78 ±6,55 and 9,58+ 3,30, p=0.017, respective). There was a strong corelation between diameter of adenoma which was measured by magnetic resonance and mean average count (r=0.555*p=0.021). Mean average count and ROI diameter of sagital and coronal section were shown positive corelation (r=0.651*, p=0.001 and r^0.748*, p=0.001, respectively) Conclusion: l-Tc-99m-MIBIcanbeused as an imaging ajan to show pituitary adenomas. 652- Uptake of Tc-99m-MIBI positively correlate with diameter of pituitary adenoma 3- Findings of Magnetic Resonance and Tc-99m-scintigraphy support to each other. 4- MRI can show anatomical structure of the adenoma while MIBI SPECT can show functional status of the adenoma 66
