Abstract (EN)

Purpose: In addition to the functions of MMPs in tissue regeneration, morphogenesis, wound healing and normal developmental stages, they also have a role in pathological conditions such as tumor cell invasion, metastasis abilities and angiogenesis. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the polymorphism-disease relationship by examining MMP gene polymorphisms in patients with pituitary adenoma and control individuals. Material and method: 2 polymorphisms MMP-1 (-519) AND MMP-12 (-82 A/G) (rs2276109) in a total of 125 samples (75 patients and 50 controls) were analyzed using the PCR-RFLP method Findings: No significant difference was found between the genotype distributions of the studied MMP gene polymorphisms in the patients and control groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, according to the results of this study, it can be said that MMP 1 and mmp 12 genes are not effective in the development of pituitary adenoma. Key words: pituitary adenoma, MMP-1, MMP-12, Polymorphism
