Abstract (EN)
Today, when human behavior patterns and awareness of responsibility are examined from every angle in line with the development of science, they are based on one or more absolute reasons. The impact of global and social events that have a profound impact on the formation and development of cultures on human behavior patterns and the reflections of this influence in art history are undeniably great. "Emotional Numbness" caused by global and social events is also emerging as an urgent social problem today. "Emotional Numbness", reduces our social responsibilities and leads to social detachment, indifference and apathy in our society. Although what we are going through in the current situation requires solidarity and cooperation more than ever, "Emotional numbness" hinders this solidarity. Within the scope of the thesis, it has been researched how the First World War, which was engraved in the literature as an "international trauma", affected the social consciousness after the humanity, in line with its psychological, neurological, biological and sociological aspects, and at what point the feeling of " Emotional Numbness " was formed and transferred to the present day. The research started as a dictionary structure with the etymologies of the "sentimental concepts" related to "numbness" in order to perceive and understand the concept of "numbing" from every angle. It has been researched and explained in which aspects the concept of "Emotional Numbness" and emotional states are related with this structure. Afterwards, the effects of global and social events on "numbness" were investigated and explained through the "shell shock" experienced by soldiers in the First World War. It examines how the devastating effects of the war reached the present day, how these effects continued to be multiplied by the shocks experienced today, and the role of "numbing" that occurs as a result of shocks in human behavior and awareness of responsibility from psychological, neurological, sociological and philosophical perspectives. Finally, the reflections of global and social events and shocks, which have been experienced throughout history and affect social consciousness today, on art history through mass media are discussed. As a result of all these research processes, the necessity of "being able to feel" has been explained and a new culture proposal, the culture of "yaşamdaşlık", has been presented as a healing aspect to the "numbness" that is the consequence of the shocks experienced in every period. Within the scope of the thesis, the necessity of "being able to feel" has been expressed through research, and then it has been made visible through art in line with the works of contemporary artists whose views are related to the culture of "yaşamdaşlık". In the last part of this thesis, ideas, opinions and suggestions synthesized within the scope of the research are put forward through personal practices.
