Political and cultural relations between Hittite and Egypt states

The political relations between the Hittite and Egyptian states constitute an important part of the foreign policy of the two superpowers of the period. Northern Syria has been the main geography where the ups and downs between Hittite and Egypt for many years have been exhibited. Northern Syria has historically been the crossing point and interaction zone of many different civilizations. Especially since the end of the 2nd millennium BC, it had a strategic importance between the Egyptian and Hittite kingdoms. Relations between the Egyptian and Hittite kingdoms resulted in frequent conflict over their control and sphere of influence in Northern Syria. Northern Syria had a strategic location, especially because of its important cities on the western shores of the Euphrates River and its location on trade routes. Egypt made an effort to seize Northern Syria and organized a series of expeditions. However, the Hittites also struggled to protect their presence in Northern Syria. The Battle of Kadesh, which took place in the 14th century BC, was a major conflict between the Egyptian and Hittite kingdoms, and in this war the strategic importance of Northern Syria was largely revealed. As a result, Northern Syria became the center of contentious relations between the Egyptian and Hittite kingdoms, and control of this region was of great importance, both politically and economically. Throughout their political history, the Egyptian and Hittite states were in competition with each other to keep the Eastern Mediterranean trade under control. This conflict reached its peak, which resulted in the Battle of Kadesh, within the framework of the ups and downs between the two states. The "Eternal Peace" agreement, signed about 15-20 years after the war, brought the two great powers closer together and even brought them to the point of becoming allies.
