Özet (EN)

The basis of the issues researched and examined in this study comprises topics such as the basic elements of the Hittite army system and campaign activities, the equipment and war tools used in the army, war chariots, war strategies, the security perception of the state and city walls under the title of Hittite army system. During the formation of the text, research and studies on the Hittite army system were examined and combined in our study to create a simple and holistic work. The Hittites, who made Hattusa their capital, built very durable and long fortifications around the city for security reasons. They formed a large and organized army, gathered from their regions and local people, and this army became one of the most powerful armies in the world during the Hittite empire period. The Hittite army refrained from a policy based on occupation. Their primary goal was to talk to the rulers of the city they were planning to attack, make them surrender, and capture the city bloodlessly. In this way, they tried to wear out the cities they could not capture by cutting off their external aid and connections. The Hittite army, which then attacked, first wore down the enemy with the chariots they adapted for their own purposes, and the final blow was dealt by the infantry. The Hittites caused their enemies to suffer heavy losses with the espionage policies and war strategies they used in case of war. They have left deep traces in history with their important actions such as the Kadesh Treaty, the first written treaty in history that they made with the Egyptians. The Hittites, who managed to gain a superior position against their enemies in wars with the strategies and diplomatic relations they used, left a legacy that could guide and set an example for the civilizations that would come after them.
