Abstract (EN)

In this study, the development of film music from its emergence in the 19th century to the present has been examined in terms of orchestration techniques, melodic structures, writing style and color-timbre-focused effects. The psychological effects of different music styles in the cinematic framework were investigated. Bernard Herrmann's out of the common and modern orchestration techniques, soundtracks by John Williams making references to the works of the late-Romantic and the early-20th century era, and the acoustic-electronic synthesis of Hans Zimmer are among the topics included in this research. The Shining movie is also explored as it incorporates 20th century avant-garde orchestral works as its soundtrack.
