Abstract (EN)
daha soHordenine is a phenylethylamine alkaloid found in many plants, especially in wheat. Hordenine has biological potential due to its phenylethylamine alkaloid and phenolic structure. In this study, hordenine was evaluated by bioanalytical methods, including ABTS·+ , DMPD·+ and DPPH∙ radical scavenging activities, Cu2+-Cu+ reduction capacity by CUPRAC method and reduction capacity by Fe3+-Fe2+ transformation method. The IC50 value of hordenine in DPPH∙ radical scavenging activity was 231 µg/mL, which showed lower radical scavenging activity compared to BHA (8.25 µg/mL), Trolox (5.92 µg/mL) and α-tocopherol. While hordenine (11.91 µg/mL) was found to be similar to other standards in ABTS·+ scavenging activity, hordenine exhibited a weaker activity than BHA (14.40 µg/mL) with 19.80 µg/mL in DMPD·+ radical scavenging test. In reducing power analyses, the Fe3+-Fe2+ reducing capacity of hordenine was measured as 0.062±0.011, while the Cu2+-Cu+ reducing capacity was measured as 0.794±0.156, and it showed a lower reducing effect than other standard antioxidants. In enzyme inhibition studies, it was determined that hordenine had a significant inhibitory effect on AChE and BChE. The IC50 value for AChE was calculated as 364.81 nM and the Ki value was 254.92±95.48 nM. Hordenine exhibited a particularly potent effect on BChE, with an IC50 value of 100.46 nM for BChE and a Ki value of 43.96±10.16 nM. These values indicate that hordenine is a more potent inhibitor of BChE than tacrine. Hordenine was found to have significant inhibitory potential for both enzymes. Considering its antioxidant properties and its effects on cholinesterase enzymes, hordenine is a biologically valuable compound that can be used in research on the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, food technology, and pharmaceutical applications.nra doldurulacaktır
