Abstract (EN)

This study aims to show how meta-fictional postmodern novels reflect historical knowledge within the scope of historiographic meta-fiction, how the authors transform the historical process into fiction. The general aim of the thesis is to examine in detail how historical consciousness and historical metafiction shape the identities of the characters in selected novels and how history and fiction are juxtaposed in the postmodern context. At the same time, this study examines how the past of postmodern history is handled by various theorists in the context of postmodern historiography, and also the difficulty of reflecting the past linearly. Historiographic metafiction doesn't deal with the past concretely and objectively, but deal with historical consciousness and facts with a different reality with a postmodern point of view. For this reason, this thesis aims to examine historical facts and metafictional elements within the scope of historiographic metafiction and examine how it is possible to rewrite history fictionally and imaginatively with a postmodern fictional point of view.
