Abstract (EN)

Throughout history, the position of women in social life has been a subject of debate. In some societies, women have come to the fore while men have come to the fore in some societies. This situation has affected people in social situations as well as in bilateral relations. In addition, the authority of religion has been used from time to time to determine the positions of the sexes in social life, and one gender has been made superior to the other. It is also possible to come across periods in the history of Christianity when women were pushed to the background and men were at the forefront by using the authority of religion. Nevertheless, some women have come to the fore during this period. Although the importance of these women was mentioned very little in the medieval period, today the names of these women are often mentioned in different fields. One of these women is Mary Magdalene, who is also called the "Apostle of the Apostles". Mary Magdalene is a saint who has been subjected to different accusations. According to some, she is a prostitute, while according to others, she is a woman who fell in love with Jesus and followed him. In order to understand who Mary Magdalene is, it is necessary to examine her position in history. In the first part of this three-part study, information is given about the sources that Mary Magdalene passed through and the currents that affect the perception of women today. In the second part, the position of women in Christian thought and the position of women in Jewish thought, which was influenced by traditional Christian thought, were mentioned. In the last section, the results of the researches carried out on the way in which Mary Magdalene was commemorated throughout the history of Christianity and how important she was.
