Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to focus on Hulki Aktunç's novels Bir Çağ Yangını, published in 1981, and Son İki Eylül, published in 1987, in the context of uncanniness. The concept of linguistic split plays a critical role in determining the relationship between the language and narrative techniques constructed in novels and the uncanniness. The uncanny atmosphere that emerged in different ways before and after the Military Coup of September 12, 1980 in Türkiye is the subject of the thesis. In the novel Bir Çağ Yangını, the effect of the uncanniness has been examined on the axis of uncertainty, betweenness, the return of the repressed, spatial relations and the problem of agency. While examining the novel Son İki Eylül, the focus is on the resistance efforts that arise from the original use of language and proceed with the uncanniness, against the subject-encompassing aspect of schizophrenia, paranoia, minor narrative and discipline society. It has been claimed that both novels were constructed with a strong language craftsmanship, and that this craftsmanship was fed by the uncanniness that shattered major literature, rather than the normative and despotic use of language. It has been stated that in the novels Bir Çağ Yangını and Son İki Eylül, the uncanniness determines both the linguistic existence of the texts and is used as a method of political criticism. This thesis aims to bring a new perspective to the research on Hulki Aktunç's oeuvre and to establish a dialogue with new research.
