Contextual analysis of the verses read in the sermons

Certainly, the main source of the Muslim community is the Quran. Khutbah, which offers the verses to the public has a great importance for the recognition and understanding of the Quran. According to the President of Religious Affair's study from 2014 of religious life in Turkey, ıt is stated that 57.4% of the male population perform the Friday prayer all the time, 17.6% mostly and 12.7% occasionally. Considering that an average of 54 khutbahs including Friday and Eid are published annually, ıt is understood that the widest form of source that brings together the Quran with society is the Khutbahs. In this regard, it is important that explaining the verses read in the khutbahs in the most correct way in terms of both understanding the Quran correctly and benefiting the society from the Quran to the maximum extent. Context knowledge with the materials used has an important place in determining the first understood meaning in the period when the verse was sent down. It is an approach that has gained importance recently in understanding the divine message with the characteristic, sociocultural and economic structure of the society to which it was sent, as well as important materials such as grammar, Asbab Al Nuzul. The Turkish texts of the prepared khutbahs should not show any contextual contrast with the verses to be referred to. Turkish texts will serve an important purpose if presented to the public in accordance with the verses. Instead of finding a verse on the subject, the subject should be prepared in the light of verses. Khutbahs will be important as long as the verses refer to are explained in line with the context of the Quran. Otherwise, it will be made a great mistake like to say that the Quran did not say.
