An investigation on the landscape design of nursing home gardens: Design suggestions for the Fethi Baycin Nursing Home (Antalya)

Old age is a process that should be evaluated with the physical, psychological and social aspect. While physiological dimension expresses the changes seen with age, chronological age; psychological dimension refers to the change in the capacity of human adaptation in terms of aging, perception, learning, psychomotor, problem solving and personality as the chronological age progresses. From a sociological point of view, old age refers to behaviors expected from a certain age group in a society and the values that the society gives to that group. The convenience provided by technology to human life, cunning developments, awareness of maintaining and maintaining health, prolonged life expectancy and increased the proportion of elderly population in society. The necessity of modern society has made it possible to return the family structure to the nuclear family, and as a result of many changes, establishing the institutions where the elderly can receive the care service has become a necessity and the foundation has begun to be taken. With this study; Area analysis of the existing garden areas of the nursing homes located in the city center of Antalya has been done. In addition, interviews were held with the aim of revealing the wishes and anticipations of the elderly people in the nursing homes and the well-being of the elderly. In the last stage; According to the results of TSE standards, health garden design criteria, field studies and interview forms, design proposal has been developed in the case of Fethi Bayçin Nursing Home. The conclusions of the negotiations and land studies are; It has been observed that the nursing home gardens located in the city center of Antalya can not meet the needs and expectations of the elderly and that the gardens of the existing nursing homes are designed without respecting the aesthetic, functional criteria and standards. The proposal made in this respect is expected to be a guide for landscape gardening to be implemented in the future.
