Abstract (EN)

Aim: The research was conducted as a descriptive study to examine the effect of spiritual orientation on happiness in elderly people living alone and with their families in a nursing home. Material and Method: The population of the research is elderly individuals living in Malatya Nursing Home and individuals over 65 years of age who apply to Family Health Centers affiliated to Malatya Yeşilyurt and Battalgazi District Health Directorate. The sample group of the study was calculated by G power analysis and was determined as 150 people, 50 for the group. Data; It was collected using the Introductory Information Form, the Spiritual Orientation Scale, and the Oxford Happiness Scale. The data obtained from the research were evaluated with the SPSS 24.0 program. Results: Participants aged 65-74 constitute 54.7% of the study group and 76% live with their families. 50% of the participants living with their families live with their spouses. Participants aged between 75 and 84 constitute 34.7% of the study group and 48% live in nursing homes. 70% of individuals living in nursing homes are male individuals. 10.7% of the participants are aged 85 and over and 18% live in nursing homes. with his family. It was determined that the OMQ score of individuals living in a nursing home and alone had a statistically significant effect on the MYQ score (p<0.05). Conclusion: In line with the research findings, it can be concluded that spiritual orientation affects happiness positively. Key Words: Spiritual Orientation, Happiness, Senility
