The effects of magnetic field on the tissue cultures of Hypericum L.

In recent years, natural medical treatment ways, especially vegetal treatments are getting more interest all over the world. Demand on the medical plants are now an important source of income. Hypericum perforatum L. vegets are from the Hypericaceae family which are grown as long lifed herbs at Europe, Asia, North Africa and United States of America. It is used as antidepressant in traditional medics. Researchs show us that Hypericum calycinum L. herb has the same and similiar compounds in.Taxons of Hypericum L. are commonly used as cure for ulcer, diabetes, flues, stomach, liver and bile diseases and especially burnt skin, from past to now. Also, it is seen by some researchers that extracts of Hypericum L. have antiviral and antibacterial effects.This study aims to show the results of Magnetic Field (MF) on body and leaf explants about callus creation frequency, callus young weight and hypericin amount at H. calycinum L..In this study, MF was applied 0 (C0), 1 (C1), 3(C3), 5 (C5) and 9 (C9) times to H. calycinum L. body and leaf explants. Callus creation frequencies at body do increase at C3 and C5, and for leaves, C9 has an increased frequency by well-controlled experiments. Callus amounts on both body and leaf explants are determined to be decreased at all MF applications. Hypericin amounts at calluses at body and leaf explants do reach its highest amount at C3 application and due to statistical evaluations, effects of different quantities of Magnetic Field on hypericin amounts at body (P<0,01) and leaf (P<0,05) are found to be important.
