The effect of speed reading training on secondary school 7th graders' reading comprehension skills and attitudes on reading

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this survey is to examine the effect of junior hing schools seventh grade students reading and understanding skills. The survey group is cansist of 44 7th grade students of a private primary school in Yeşilyurt, Malatya. An experiment group and a control group takes places in this work. İn experiment group besides Turkish, cirirulum, quik reading techniques are used and in control group. Primary Education Turkish curriculum is used. İn experiment group 21 hours lessons are carried on. Survey results werw determined according to reading speed, understanding test and reading attitude test. Survey aquipments are used as first test before experimental process and used as last after the process. Analyses of results are realized by using SPSS 22 programmes. Independent samples, t-tests are used to determine the reading speed, attitudes points. It's admitted as p=.05 for meaning level in analyses. As a result of analyses it's seen that speed reading helps students to their reading speeds and understanding levels. But the techniques stil hasn't got any positive effect on student's attitude towards reading.
