viEFFECTS OF WELDING SEQUENCE OF FILLET WELDS IN I-BEAMS ONDISTORTION FORCES(M.Sc. Thesis)Yavuz AKTAŞGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYJanuary 2007ABSTRACTThe aim of this study is to determine welding sequence planning (WSP) whichwill provide minimum distortion in I beams fabricated by arc welding. For thispurposes, arc spot welded I beam was placed between a rigid frame and forcemeasuring plates (FMPs) with strain-gauge. During applications of variousWSP, distortion tendency in I beams were measured by means of FMSs anddistortion forces were analyzed by using AMR Win Control programme.Distortion forces created in I beams fabricated by using WSP with 12combinations were determined. The minimum distortion forces and distortion tendency were determined forWSP which prevents heat concentration and the other is based on centre of Ibeam.Maximum distortion forces were determined for welding sequences directedfrom the end to the centre of I beam.Science Code : 710.3.019Key Words :Arc welding, I - beam, welding sequence planning (WSP),distortion, distortion forcesPage Number : 143Adviser : Assoc.
