Abstract (EN)
The word mecmua, derived from the Arabic root cemʻ (جمع), as a literary term, refers to works compiled by scribes/collectors who, regardless of the subject matter, recorded poems or prose they found pleasing either from the past or their contemporary period, gradually forming them into a book. The earliest examples of mecmuas in Turkish literature, which are among the significant sources of classical Turkish literature, began to appear in the 15th century and became widespread over time. These works, which provide information about the literary taste and understanding of the period and the scribe, hold an important place in the history of Turkish literature, not only in literature but also in relation to fields such as history, language, medicine, music, law, biography, etc. For researchers, mecmuas offer the opportunity to uncover unknown poems and poets, along with historical and literary information. Poets who have not taken their place in literary history or have been forgotten are discovered or await discovery through mecmuas. The subject of our master's thesis is a poetry collection registered under the name "Mecmua-i eşar" with the number Bel YzK 716 in the Atatürk Library of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The content of our thesis consists of the transcribed text and analysis of the poems found in this collection. This thesis is composed of an introduction and three main chapters. In our study, we first provide explanatory information about the definition, history, development, formal characteristics, classification, and importance of the collection. Then, the collection was described and analyzed. Finally, the transcribed text of the collection that has been subject to our analysis was included. The collection, consisting of 70 folios, contains a total of 169 poems written in various poetic forms. Poems from every period between the 13th and 19th centuries can be found in the collection. Most of the poems included in the collection were written within the framework of the Alevi-Bektashi tradition. The main purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the studies of journals in classical Turkish literature. For this reason, this very thesis aims to contribute to the studies of poetry journals by examining the poetry journal registered under number 716 in the İBB Atatürk Library within the scope of "MESTAP", to present previously unpublished poems, or to provide word and couplet contributions to already published poems.
