In our study, named as "The Mediterranean in the Middle Ages According to Ibn Jubayr and Ibn Battuta," the political, social, cultural and historical observations of the travel writers about the Mediterranean region was tried to be put forward based on their travelogues. Travelogues contain many historical and geographical information as well as literary aspects. In this respect, travel books are important in other disciplines besides history and geography. Travelogues also include extremely important information for the social and economic life neglected by historians. The traditions, rituals, social actors, religious beliefs and cultures in the countries where travelers traveled were examined and interpreted. Information is given about the administrations, cultures of the countries and the management styles of the administrators. In addition, cities are examined in detail and their interesting aspects are mentioned. The characteristics of some important personalities who are effective in guiding society and expressing value for society are mentioned. Finally, the fact that these travelogues were penned down in successive centuries will shed light on the unknown history of that period. Ibn Jubayr and Ibn Battuta travelogues will be the source in various fields related to the 13th and 14th century world in general.
