The rumors which are regarded as defective in terms of text in Ibn Abî Hatim's work named al-Ilel

With the systematization of hadith narration in the second century of the Hijri, the activity of criticism of hadith gained development. This activity of criticism about the isnads and texts of the rumors has come to the fore again with the spread of orientalist and modernist perspectives in recent years. The claim that the muhaddith are not interested in text/content criticism has been a topic that has been discussed by recent researchers. In response to the claim made in this sense, the view that muhaddith are interested in text/content criticism has also been put forward in some studies. As a result of these studies, it has been stated that there are traces of text/content criticism in Ilel studies, especially in Ibn Abu Hatim's al-Ilel. In this study, the issue of whether the muhaddith, who are in demand recently, are dealing with text/content criticism, is discussed through the narrations in which Ibn Abu Hatim's ilal evaluations for his text in his al-Ilel. As a result of the examination of the narrations with the detected text, one by one, it was seen that the inferences that the hadiths in al-Ilel were ignored by looking only at the isnads were not accurate, on the contrary, there were at the least criticisms related to the text. However, it has been concluded that it is not appropriate to evaluate these evaluations as text/content criticism in the modern period. In addition, as a result of the examination of the narrations in al-Ilel, it has been determined that the science of ilal examines the narrations of the weak narrators as well as the narrations of the strong narrators. Besides, it has been determined that some of the concepts used during the evaluation in al-Ilel are sometimes used in a different and more comprehensive sense from the definitions made in the late period.
