Abstract (EN)

Avicenna is one of the greatest philosophers and scientists of the Middle Ages. He left his mark on the thought and science world of the period, and his works were felt both in Islamic world and in Europe for centuries.Avicenna took ?divine inspiration, prophethood and miracle? as subjects in many of his works. He viewed these subjects, which are religious concepts in nature, with a philosophical perspective. According to him, being a prophet is a mandatory institution, both socially and politically. Prophet is the person who receives inspiration by communicating with Allah through ?Active Mind.? According to Avicenna, miracle is the extraordinary events prophets display. Miracle is an important event, as it is an indication of propethood.Avicenna got influenced by Farabi about ?divine inspiration, prophethood and miracle?; but he advanced the subject even more and created his own system in the field. Our current work is composed of two sections. In the first section, we discussed the philosophical background of ?divine inspiration, prophethood and miracle? concepts. Here, we first viewed our position according to Judaism and Christianity religions. Later, we tried to explain the views of philosophers like ?Kindi, İhva-ı Safa ve Farabi,? who lived before Avicenna, on these subjects. In the second and actual section of our study, we discussed ?divine inspiration, prophethood and miracle? concepts according to Avicenna separately. In this section, first we explained the ?minds? that are mentioned in Avicenna philosophy. In the propethood section, we emphasized ?necessity, proof of propethood, characteristics and duties of prophets.? In the divine inspiration section, we discussed ?divine vision, inspiration connected to the divine vision, dream and its instinctive vision and vision-mind, propethood-wisdom relation.? In the last section, we explained the indication of miracle, prophecy and miracle to propethood.Key Words: Divine Vision, Propethood, Miracle, Avicenna, Mind
