Abstract (EN)

Yellow rust disease caused by Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici factor adversely affects the quality and yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), causing heavy yield and quality losses and a decrease in the amount of nutrients in the grain in cases of the disease. In Türkiye, wheat breeding studies continue in universities, research institutes and many official institutions. The purpose of breeding research is to identify disease-resistant varieties. This study was carried out in 3 different locations in 2021/2022 growing season in order to determine the occurrence and reactions of yellow rust disease in some wheat cultivars; It was conducted in Ankara, Konya and Nevşehir. The data of the study were created according to the randomized blocks experimental design. In the experiment, 10 bread wheat varieties were used, respectively; Selenivka, Krasunia, Esperia, Cömert, Bezostaja, Flamura 85, Quality, Tosunbey, Sönmez 2001, Ahmetağa varieties. While the Bezostaja variety showed the highest reaction in terms of rust disease, the lowest reaction was observed in Selenivka, Krasunia and Cömert varieties. Again, it was observed that the tillering number was high in Selenivka and Cömert cultivars, while tillering remained weak in Bezostaja cultivar. In all cultivars used in the research, besides the formation of rust disease, tillering number, plant height, protein ratio, gluten content, hectoliter weight, moisture and grain yield characteristics were also investigated. It is thought that the results of this trial study will make important contributions to the use of resistant varieties against rust disease in wheat.
