Taxonomic and cytogenetic studies on some species of the family cicindelidae (Coleopterea) from Central Anatolian Region

In this study, some species of the family Cicindelidae (Coleoptera) distrubed in Central Anatolian Region were investigated. In the field trips, 4 species of two distinct genera belonging one subfamily, namely Calomera fischeri fischeri (Adams, 1817), Calomera littoralis mandli (Mandl, 1967), Calomera caucasica (Adams, 1817), Cephalota circumdata cappadocica Franzen, 1996, were collected. The karyotypes, the karyograms and the idiograms, diploid chromosome numbers, sex determining systems and chromosomal morphology of these species were determined in the cytogenetic studies. Consequently, it was showed that these 4 species have same chromosome number (2n = 22), same sex determining system (X1X2X3Y) and similar chromosomal morphology, mostly mediosentric. The Cicindelids of Turkey was cytogenetically examined with this study for the first time. In the taxonomic studies, eye morphology of these 4 species were examined in respect to ommatidium number and cornea size. The evaluations were performed between the sex and species.
