Abstract (EN)

Clinical and Demographic Characteristics of Patients with Colorectal Carcinoma Followed at the Medical Oncology Clinic of Department of Internal Medicine. Purpose: Retrospective screening of patients with colorectal cancer, aimed to reveal data about our hospital. Material and Method: Between January 01 2010 and December 31 2015 patients who were followed up at our Medical Oncology Clinic were taken into the study.Patients' files and blood and radiology examinations in the Enlil System were examined.The departure dates of the patients were reached via MERNIS with the ID number of the Ministry of Health Death Notification System. Findings: In our study, 269 patients with colorectal cancer were evaluated. Single center, retrospective study was performed. 50.6% of the patients are male, 49.4% female. The mean age was 58.9 ± 14 (29-91) in males and 58.2 ± 14.7 (19-91) in females. 27.9% of the patients had smoking bahaviour and 2.2% had alcohol consumption background. Histopathological examination revealed that 49.4% of the patients were adenocarcinoma (without subtyping) and 19.7% were moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. The most common site (39.4%) was rectum, and (16.7%) was sigmoid colon. Of the patients, 53.1% were metastatic, and liver metastasis was the most common (44.7%) among those with metastasis.The most common symptom in patients receiving colorectal cancer was abdominal pain (29%) followed by constipation (21.9%). 65.8% of the patients were treated. 32.3% were palliative and 18.2% were curative. Forty-one (15.2%) patients could not be reached for what purpose the operation was performed. 28.3% patients had additional disease and 4.5% were accompanied by another malignancy. 49.4% of the patients had stage 4, 26% stage 3, 10.8% stage 2, 2.2% stage 1 and 0.4% intramucosal carcinoma. CEA levels ranged from 0 to 5 in 46.1%, from 100 to 1000 in 12.3%, from 20 to 100 in 11.9%, 10 to 20 in 4.5%, over 1000 of 3,3%, between 0 and 40 of CA 19-9 56,5% , 12.3% were between 100-1000, 11.9% were between 40-100 and 5.9% were above 1000. Of the patients, 85.5% received chemotherapy and 19% received radiotherapy. Results: There is no effect of sex, smoking and alcohol use, pathologic typing, tumor location, symptoms of arrival, additional disease at survival; It was concluded that the age, the presence of distant metastasis, the operation narrative, the universe, CEA and CA19-9 levels could have important effects on the accuracy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
