Abstract (EN)
The master thesis you are about to read is a research about the impact of simulation-driven visual effects on interior architecture and environmental design presentations. Managing variety of simulation elements, achiving realistic simulations and revealing the problems in simulation programs and concordantly questioning a necessity of new simulation program have been researched in the context of architectural visualization. It has been assumed that the most used simulation elements are created by not only interior designers but also architects are cloth, grass, fur, water, fume and crowd simulations, so this research has only focused on those ones. The main foundation for these assumptions are the academic researches that have been written before and they have been listed by summing up chronologically in the very beginning of thesis. At first, many terms which are related to simulation have been defined clearly. The main reason for doing this is to make distinction among the confusing terms which are very similar to each other. Having said that, the history of simulation and in conjunction with architectural animation have been expounded. In this way the main reasons of using visual effects in interior design and architecture could have been clarified by interpretting or comparing different approaches and researches. Particle, the fundamental element of computer simulation, has been explained after the reason section and subsequently the reader has been passed on to the practical part of thesis. In this section, typical workflow and creation of simulations in computer graphics softwares have been explained and cloth, grass, water, fume and crowd simulations have been implemented in an architectural concept by two of the most powerful and popular computer graphics softwares named 3ds Max 2016 and Maya 2016 . The results of this practice have been analyzed. Analyzing results have also revealed many problems of the simulation workflow thus some solutions have been suggested by explaining a new architectural simulation software concept named "FFCC" and a new survey concept for interior architectures which makes the research more objective. After presenting this new concept, the ideas, theories and approaches which have been mentioned in the first sections of thesis, have been compounded with the practical section once again, a general result that encapsulates the all research has been reached. Ultimately, recommendations and further readings can also be found in this final section.
