İç mimarlık firmalarının ahşap malzemeyi mobilya ve yapı malzemesi olarak tercihlerinin belirlenmesi

In this study, the use and preferences of wood material of interior architecture firms as furniture and building materials in interior and outdoor spaces were investigated. The aim of this research was to determine the possibilities of using wood materials, which have great potential in both furniture and building sectors, as furniture and building materials in interior and outdoor spaces. Moreover, a study is planned to be conducted in order to identify the opinions of interior design firms having a major role in this field about wooden materials, their training on how to use wooden materials, their relationships with the industry and relevant intuitions, their relations with SMEs manufacturing with wooden materials, the problems of the companies and their prospects for the future. In the scope of the research; the provinces of İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir were selected after they were determined by the sampling method as they could generally represent Turkey in order to conduct a study on interior design firms. The managers of 272 interior design offices were applied the questionnaire including 198 in İstanbul, 54 in Ankara and 20 in İzmir. These firms have been operating under the NACE code "74.10.01" and "Activities of interior designers (including interior decoration)" in the group "Professional, scientific and technical activities" of the İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The data obtained from the participants were analyzed using the survey method. As the result of the study, some findings were obtained. Considering the results in general, it has been found that wooden materials have a high potential to be used as a building material in interior and outdoor spaces. It has also been noted that the enterprises and interior design offices did not agree with the idea of having a high potential for the use of wooden materials. It was also found that wooden materials were not highly preferred in outdoor spaces both for furniture an building materials compared to interior spaces. Furthermore it has been concluded that solid wood was highly used as furniture and building material in interior and outdoor spaces. In addition the participants of the questionnaire have stated that they do not get enough invitations and participate in events and platforms related to wooden materials bringing the relevant companies together, that their relationship with institutions or organizations such as industry, universities, trade associations, SMEs manufacturing wood and other manufacturers in the sector are not at a desired level and they do not have a problem with the supply of wooden materials. In addition, it has been found that enterprises consider the technologies used in production by SMEs manufacturing wood, the training level and quality of the administrators and employees as insufficient, and they have a negative opinion about the manufacturing of the products they designed by SMEs manufacturing wood in terms of fulfilling the expectations on time at high quality.
