Abstract (EN)

Heat transfer control and its evaluation of numerically and experimentally are important issue in industry. Due to increasing of powerful of computers and computer codes in computational heat transfer and fluid Dynamics, numbers of numerical works are also increased. Numerical works save time and decrease the cost of scientific studies. In this work, a sharp edged circular body is inserted into a circular pipe. Heat transfer is investigated both numerically and experimentally. Air was used as working fluid. Partial constant heat flux was applied onto outer side of pipe. Computations and experiments were made for different Reynolds number as 450, 785 and 1125. Buoyancy force is also included to study and value of Rayleigh number is taken as 46237 for whole study. Thus, mixed convection problem is solved. Finite element code was used to solve governing equations of Navier-Stokes and energy equations. ANSYS commercial code was used to simulate the problem. Results are presented by isotherms, velocity contours, pressure contours, velocity and temperature profiles and mean and local Nusselt numbers. A comparison was compared between experimental and numerical results. It is obtained that a good agreement was formed between them. Another finding in the study is that the inserting of body can be used a control element for both heat transfer and fluid flow. Its position to the flow direction is also another control parameter.
