Özet (EN)
In this study, enclosures with fins attached to the isothermal side walls were considered. Side walls were kept at constant but different temperatures, while horizontal top and bottom walls were insulated. A computer program based on the control volume approach and the SIMPLE algorithm was developed. Simulations were performed to investigate the effects of the fin configuration and Rayleigh number on the flow structure and heat transfer. It was observed that the heat transfer rate through a closed volume can be controlled by attaching fins to the walls. At different Rayleigh numbers, the heat transfer rate with the different fin configurations, conductivity of fins and the fin length were analyzed. It was observed that the heat transfer in enclosures can be controlled with the fins attached to the walls. Heat transfer rate increases with increasing fin conductivity ratio and / or Rayleigh number. Key Words : Heat transfer, natural convection, enclosure
