Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, ideological propaganda activities carried out during the Second World War and the war through the concepts of ideology and propaganda are dealt with from many angles, and in particular, ideological propaganda activities carried out during the war through cartoons are examined. For this purpose, concepts were first focused on, then the Second World War was examined, and then seven cartoons, which were determined to be used as an ideological propaganda tool from the cartoons prepared between 1939-1945, when the Second World War took place, and whose clear images have reached the present day, were examined. While examining the cartoons in the study, the views of Slavoj Zizek and Cemil Meriç, who were thought to use similar metaphors due to their views on ideology, were also tested. Due to the existence of the opinions of these two thinkers who lived in different dates from each other, which explains the ideological propaganda activities in cartoons prepared on different dates, this issue has been drawn attention. For these reasons, in the study, the semiotic analysis method, whose use has increased in recent years in order to test the basic propositions, and which is thought to provide the best findings by examining the indicators in cartoons in order to reach the result in terms of subject, was used. Analyzes focused on how these cartoons are used as an ideological propaganda tool on the public, how the cartoons aim to direct people's tendencies through ideological propaganda carried out through signs, and what kind of a dominant ideology propaganda these cartoons contain in line with the views of Zizek and Meriç on ideology.
