Production analysis of cattle fattening enterprises in Igdir province

The aim of this study is to determine the level of inputs used in the fattening cattle, the unit cost of live weight increase, the problems encountered in cattle breeding and marketing and the suggestions for solutions to these problems in Igdir province. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 126 farms producing fattening cattle in Igdır province using "Simple Random Sampling Method". In the enterprises surveyed, the average age of farmers is 46 and 66,7% has education at the primary education level. On average, there are 3,66 EIB and 22,4 head of cattle breeders in each establishment. While 225 kg live weight increase per animal was obtained during 230 days of fattening, the cost was 3.641 Turkish Lira and the live weight increase value after fattening was 4.784 Turkish Lira. Unit cost in live weight increase is 14,6 Turkish Lira, product sales price is 21,2 Turkish Lira/kg, gross production value is 114.946 Turkish Lira and net profit is 33.351 Turkish Lira. According to the Linear Regression Analysis and Regression Decision Tree model, the animal weight, animal age, fattening period, crude and concentrate feed weight were determined as factors affecting the live weight increase significantly. Important issues of farmer engaged in fattening include low meat prices, failure to provide quality feed, the low yield meat of the animals, inadequate forage crops and support amount. The proposed solution is to increase the input support for fattening, to provide technical information support, to organize the producers to create a stronger structure, and to solve the problem of the earrings by responsible units.
