Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out in an individual farm with 62 Damascus goat in Iğdır province. Somatic cell count (SCC), milk yield characteristics and udder characteristics were examined in goats. In the evaluations made; breast circumference (BC), breast width (BW), breast base height (BBH), breast top height (BTH), breast angle (BA), breast volume (BV), breast diameter (ND) and breast length (BL ) were determined as 41.83±0.13 cm, 13.07±0.04 cm, 30.57±0.14 cm, 51.01±0.15 cm, 38.02±0.13 º, 1754.84±10.65 ml, 6.09±0.09 mm and 5.44±0.06 cm respectively. Among the factors affecting milk yield, somatic cell count mean (Arithmetic), Log10SCC, daily mean milk yield (DMMY), lactation long (LL), lactation milk yield (LMY) and average SCC (Geometric) values were detected as 503.12±40.02*103 cells ml-1, 5.543±0.037, 2.14±0.05 kg, 292.15±0.60 days, 626.23±12.94 kg and 348.88±18 44*103 cells ml-1 respectively. The effect of season, lactation order and lactation milk yield on daily average milk yield was found to be significant (p<0.01). The effect of lactation order on SCC and Log10SCC values was found to be significant (p<0.01). While the effect of the season on SCC value was insignificant, the effect on the Log10SCC value was found to be significant (p<0.001). The effect of birth type was found to cause variation both SCC value and Log10SCC value (p<0.01). The effect on breast angle, which is one of the breast features of breast type (BT), has been determined significant (p<0.05). As a result; Damascus goats can be successfully bred in the Iğdır province. It will make an important contribution to the economy in terms of providing employment, utilizing natural fodder sources, providing raw materials to the industry as milk and meat.
