Reflections of Turkey's fiscal policies on national press in the Second World War Era (Practices-discussions)

It can observedthat on of general policies of the Republic of Turkey was "peace"after the country was founded in October 29, 1923, a lengthy and strenuous struggle. Turkey's attitude was to "stay out of the war" in the Second World War, but the realization of this policy required overcoming numerous problems. The CHP (Republican People's Party) goverment, acting in accordance with Atatürk's "peace at home, peace in the World" motto, was busy managing the financial probems in the country while trying tos tay out of the war. The disruption of the balance of trade caused problems such as; the shortage of numerous products and material , hyperinflation, black-marketeering, profiteering and engrossing. Between the years of 1939 and 1945, the National Security Law, The Wealth Tax Law, the Agricultural Products Tax Law and land reform efforts were enacted in order to solve the aforementioned problems. This study analyzes the financial structure and policies of the period in the light of various academic literature and researches the national media response. The views of the period newspapers on the financial policies were examined and it was observed that while various media organizations agreed with the goverment, some of the media organizations were critical of the goverment.
