Turkism of the Second Constitutionalist Period (1908-1913)

As of the beginning of 19. century, various efforts was discussed with the purpose of returning to old deluxe days or not being influenced with all power from the intellectual appearings the emerged in the West and preserving the integrity of the state. In addition to Ottomanism, Islamism, Turkism thoughts, Westernism which became clear as the joint of three intellectual tendences, emerged as the attempts directed towards to this purpose with their solution suggestions. In this study, Turkism thought which had not only political content but also came into prominence with its cultural features among these intellectual tendencies, was tried to be examined. It was dwelled on Turkism thought, which could be taken back to to the eras following the announcement the rescript of Tanzimat originally, gained what kind of an identity in the special conditions that emerged after the announcement of the Second Constitutionalist Period. Hence, the subject was limited with the dates 10 July 1324 (23 July 1908) which is the date of the announcement of the Second Constitutionalist Period that means the establishment of the relative freedom atmosphere and 29 May 1329 (11 June 1913) which is the date of the assassination of Mahmut Sevket Pasha that can be thought as one the reasons that political authority strengthened its own power. Within this time period, it was dwelled on the gathering-places that was composed by the followers of Turkism thought and the opinions Turkists concerning the significant concepts were tried to be discussed intellectually.
