Literary articles in İkdam Newspaper

LITERARY TEXTS IN İKDAM NEWSPAPER İkdam is a long-running newspaper in terms of both its editorial staff and content which has an important role in Turkish press and literature. It is seen that İkdam came to the fore with its rich content when the part played by the periodicals in the historical course of events of the Westernization Period of Turkish literature until the proclamation of the republic taken into consideration. The issues and titles brought by the processes of westernization and nationalization were seriously dealt with and discussed in the newspaper. The basic issues of Turkish literature such as the issue of language and orthography, nationalization and Turkism, developing literary genres, history of literature, evaluation of literary periods and groups were covered in the newspaper. In this context, İkdam has an important position in our history of literature. In the work with the title "Literary pieces in the newspaper İkdam (1894-1928)", all issues were scanned without a limitation of year or period; articles, interviews, essays, columns etc. about Turkish and Western Literature were analyzed, in addition to that, the place and role of the newspaper in the history of Turkish language and literature was tried to be set forth. In the first chapter of the thesis, which has two, theoretical issues were discussed, in the second chapter of it reviews about periods and personalities were dealt with.
