ivCOMPARISONS OF TREATMENTS WITH A CONTROL INTWO-FACTOR EXPERIMENT(M.Sc.Thesis)Özge ÖZBENGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTComparisons of treatments with a control or standart is a commonproblem in applied research. Interest is to determine teratment issignificantly better then the control. Multiple comparison testprocedures are used to solve this problem and multiple comparisonprocedures have been proposed in the literature. Three multiplecomprison procedure has been intruduced in this study. Firstprocedure is Dunnet?s multiple comparison procedure. In the secondsection simultaneous confidence bounds of this procedure has beenintroduced and the application has been described with two examples.Extensions of Dunnet multiple comparison procedure for usingDunnet?s procedure in multi- factor experiments is introduced insection three and the principals of this procedure has been introducedand two examples has been solved to describe the procedure. Anotherprocedure used in two- factor experiments is Peng, Lee and Liuprocedure for multiple comparisons. The principals and the applicationvof this procedure has been introduced. Three procedures that has beendescribed, was practiced on the data taken from the Türk (2005) study.A simulation study with 1200 repeats has been made for comparison ofthree procedures and the results are described.Science Code :212Key Words :Multiple comparison procedures, simultaneousconfidence bounds, Two-factor experimeltaldesignsPage Number :96Adviser :Prof. Dr. Hamza Gamgam
