Comparing the effectiveness of two different self-ligatingbracket system during alignment

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of two different self-ligating bracket systems on anterior alignment. The changes in intermolar and intercanine width were evaluated on digital dental models. 35 Patients were included to our retrospectif research, who had a treatment in Department of Orthodontics of Bashkent University between 2014-2018 years. Damon Q brackets were used in Group 1 consisting of 17 patients. There are 18 patiens in Group 2 and these patients were treated with SmartClip SL3(3M Unitek, Calif, USA). In all patients, 0.022x0.028 inch brackets and tubes were preferred. Archwire sequence for Group 1 was.014 inch,014x.025 inch or.016x.025 inch Damon CuNiTi, for Group 2.014 inch and.016x.025 inch HANT. Beginning, 10.week and 20.week dental casts of all patients' were founded in archive office and scanned. Scanning was performed by Dental Wings 7 device. The measurements on 3D digital models were done with Meshlab programme. Maxillary and mandibular intermolar and intercanine widths and irregularity index were measured for both groups on digital models. Any statistically significant difference was found between two groups comparing before treatment, 10. and 20.week upper and lower intermolar, intercanine widths and irregularity index. When comparing T0, T1 and T3 lower intermolar and intercanine widths in both groups, there were statistically siginificant increase from beginning to 20.week. The same pattern was found also for upper intermolar widths. Hoewever in Damon Q Group, upper intercanine width increase is not statistically significant, increment for SmartClip Group is statistically important. Decrease in Upper and Lower irregularity index are statistically significant for both Group. There are any statistically and clinically significant difference between the advantages of two Bracket systems as their manufacturer claim.
