Abstract (EN)
Even though the British colonized and ruled it, Singapore's Muslim population always felt connected by heart to the Ottoman Empire and its sultan. Their relations with the Ottoman Empire became even closer in the reign of second Abdulhamid. There are many documents in the Ottoman Archives of Prime Ministry, witnessing and showing how Ottoman-Singapore relations developed. In addition, there are many newspapers, such as İkdam, Tercüman-ı Hakikat and Sabah, giving important information on the Ottoman Singapore relations in Abdulhamid's reign. Based on these sources, this MA thesis aims to analyze and evaluate how Ottoman Singapore relations were between 1876 and 1908. Key Words: Singapore, second Abdülhamid , consulate, South East Asia.
