Abstract (EN)
This study examines the Russian foreign policy in the Eastern Mediterranean in the period of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation since the end of the Second World War to the present. Firstly, the geopolitical and geostrategic position of the Eastern Mediterranean Region has been mentioned and energy sources are explained. The contents of the doctrines that form the basis of Russian policies were mentioned and doctrinal comparisons were made. After explaining the basic point of political movements, Russian policies and regional crises in the Eastern Mediterranean were examined. In the guidance of all these studies, the increasing importance of the Eastern Mediterranean from the past to the present in Russian politics has been demonstrated. During the Soviet Union, the Arab-Israeli wars marked the region and carried the actors of the bipolar world order into conflict in the region. The impacts of these wars on the Eastern Mediterranean and how it orientates Russian policies are examined. In the period of the Russian Federation, Russia's intervention in the Syrian Civil War and its results were perused in the study. During the Cold War, communist party activities on the Eastern Mediterranean countries of the Soviet Union were also important. The intelligence reports which are used in these studies also increase the value of the review. This study examined the post-World War II Russian Foreign Policy in three main chapters including subheadings.
