An analysis of violin works in the context of Soviet music during and after the World War Two

This study is written to examine the impact of the second world war – which is a significant part of the world history – on Russia and Russian composers and the compositions they have written for the violin. In chapter one, both historical and cultural developments of Russia is examined by historical periods. The examination is done by addressing the influence of political regimes on the subject of music. The state of developing classical music is explained in both during and after the world war two era by underlining the idology of nationalism and the great wars. In chapter two, the lives, violin sonatas and concertos of Russian composers Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Stravinsky are examined and impacts of world war two analysed. In conclusion, in this work entitled "An analysis of violin works in the context of Soviet Music during and after the world war two" it is extrapolated that social events and political regimes indeed have direct influence on composers and their work in every part of history. Leaders who are aware of the influences of the music on the people, gave composers the task of creating music masses. In this research. It is explained how this pressure on composers affected their compositions for violin.
