The analysis of climate change ecological process on a global scale

States mostly prefer anthropocentric or conservationist policies in dealing with ecological problems. When creating national and international climate change policies, states usually do not focus on ecological approaches. It is observed that their main concern is increasing economic and political power in accordance with the realist and neo-liberal theories. However, the climate change policies should be based on ecological sustainability.In this thesis, the issue of climate change is evaluated through its political, social, economic and ecological dimensions. In order to mitigate the impacts of climate change, it is proposed to create a new global structure based on solidarity instead of cooperation. Developed countries are historically responsible for the present level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Therefore they are supposed to provide financial, technical and technological assistance to less developed and developing countries in order them to cope with the impacts of global warming and climate change. On the other hand, a new regional organization, namely Mediterranean Climate Action and Solidarity Alliance (MedCASA), could be set up in the Mediterranean Basin. Due to their geographic location, the Mediterranean countries are considered among the most vulnerable to the negative outcomes of climate change. If Turkey could lead in such organization, if it arranges its post-Kyoto policies according to ecological sustainability and renewable energy investments.Contributing to the designation of enforceable measures and solutions for national and international climate change policies is aimed in this study.
